1. The 30-second version
In short
- Everything here is educational content. It doesn't replace a vet, and it isn't a diagnosis of your dog.
- The writing and photos are copyrighted. Short quotes with a link back are welcome; wholesale copying is not.
- Affiliate links are used and declared — see the affiliate disclosure.
- Your data is handled under the privacy policy, which forms part of these Terms.
- Governed by German law, without taking away the consumer rights of your own country.
2. What this site is
PawHonest is an independent editorial project about at-home dog training, canine behaviour and dog products. It publishes guides, honest product reviews and recommendations based on hands-on experience and, where it exists, published research. Its purpose is informational and educational.
It is written by Megan Hartley, a canine behaviour writer and rescue foster who has raised more than thirty rescue dogs at home.
3. Not professional advice
This is the most important section on the page, so it's the bluntest.
Megan Hartley is not a veterinarian and holds no clinical qualification. Nothing published here is, or should be treated as, a veterinary diagnosis, a prescription, a treatment plan, a second opinion on your animal, or a substitute for taking your dog to a professional in person.
Every dog is different. General guidance written for a wide audience may be exactly wrong for your dog's age, breed, health or history. You remain responsible for the decisions you make about your own animal.
When to stop reading and call a vet
If your dog is unwell, if a behaviour appeared suddenly, if there is any aggression involved, or if you are considering a supplement or a change of diet for a dog with an existing condition — that is a conversation with a veterinarian, in person. No article, however carefully written, replaces someone examining the animal.
4. Acceptable use
Use the site lawfully and reasonably. Specifically, please don't attempt to breach its security, scrape it wholesale, overload it, misrepresent your identity when contacting me, or use anything here for unlawful or fraudulent purposes or in a way that infringes someone else's rights.
5. Copyright and quoting
The text, photographs, layout, visual identity and editorial structure of PawHonest belong to Megan Hartley unless stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright.
How to quote this site
Short quotes are welcome. Wholesale copying isn't.
You may quote up to roughly three paragraphs with clear attribution and a working link back to the original page — no permission needed, and I'm glad when it happens. Reproducing a full guide, republishing systematically, or using the content commercially requires written permission first. Ask via the contact page and the answer is often yes.
This also applies to AI training and bulk reproduction: quoting with attribution is fine, republishing the corpus is not.
6. Affiliate links and sponsored content
This site uses affiliate links and may in future carry sponsored content or display advertising. Every commercial relationship is disclosed, and the presence of a commission does not change how a product is assessed — the criteria are the same for everything, paid or not. The detail is in the affiliate disclosure and the editorial policy.
7. What I'm not responsible for
To the fullest extent the law allows, PawHonest accepts no liability for:

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. What you send me
When you send a message or suggest a topic, you're confirming that what you sent is yours to send, and you're giving permission for the idea to be used editorially — without any obligation on my side to publish it, credit it or pay for it. Whether a suggestion becomes a guide is my call.
9. No comments section
The contact form is the only channel
There is deliberately no public comment area under the guides. On a site about dog health and behaviour, an open comment thread fills up with confident advice from strangers, and someone eventually follows it. Keeping the conversation in the inbox protects the quality of what's on the page.
10. Privacy and cookies
How your personal data is handled is set out in the privacy policy, and cookies are covered in the cookie policy. Both form part of these Terms by reference.
11. Availability
I try to keep the site up and working, but I don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Access may be suspended for maintenance, updates, technical failure or reasons outside my control.
12. Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated to reflect legal, editorial or operational changes. The version in force is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, where PawHonest is operated, and the German courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law provisions of your own country of residence, and you keep the right to bring proceedings there.
